Job Description

Position: Direct Support Professional (DSP) 
Day Program Monday-Friday 8:00am-3:00pm
House Managers Monday-Friday 3:00pm-11:00pm
Weekend positions will be Friday 11:00pm – Sunday 11:00pm
Description: The Direct Care Professional is responsible for assisting the individuals with tasks and
activities that allow them to become more independent at their Community Living Support (CLS) site
along with all the necessary documentation. This position reports to the assigned House
Manager/Client Service Coordinator.
Essential Requirements and Responsibilities:
*Enjoy working with people with developmental disabilities and their families
*Be able to communicate well – verbally and in writing
*Write daily case notes
*Excellent time management
*Ability to work as a team
*Ability to manage people (e.g., encourage consumers to take pride in their home and self-care)
*Maintain confidentiality and treat each individual with dignity and respect
*Be comfortable using cell phones, computers, and related software
*Have some knowledge of Medicaid regulations
*Ensure consumers are working on their ISPs
*Observe and report changes in consumer condition
*Run errands as necessary (e.g., grocery shopping, pick up prescriptions, transport to day program,
etc.)
*Assist in coordinating constructive activities
*Assist at other sites, if needed
*Assist House Manager in maintain a safe and clean environment
*Conduct self in a professional manner at all times when interacting with consumers, parents,
neighbors, advocates, support coordinators, regulatory personnel, etc.
*Ability to sit, stand, walk, run, lift, bend, climb, cook, clean, etc.
*Ability to read, analyze, define problems, collect data, and draw conclusions
*Ability to perform mathematical computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division,
fractions, percentages, ratios, time and money
*Must be trustworthy and honest, especially with consumer money
*Maintain a current TB test, CPR and First Aid Certification
*Pass a Criminal Background Test
*Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: This position requires a high school/GED diploma. Some experience working with
people with developmental disabilities is preferred. Must have a valid Driver's License, a reliable
vehicle, maintain valid motor vehicle insurance and a working contact telephone number.
