Paul Pieper – Executive Director and Co-Founder

Paul Pieper has had a distinguished 25 year career of working as a volunteer, caseworker, and advocate for those with special needs, it is his passion. He started St. Mary’s Independent Living Extensions to create a faith based agency to benefit those with developmental disabilities and give them independence within the community. He was the recipient of the Mensch Award for Exemplary Service, chosen as employee of the year at JFCS, and featured on the PBS documentary “Thou Shalt Honor”. Paul has employed a notably well trained and experienced staff to assist SMILE’s family members in achieving independence in life.

Sha’Ree Lee

Sha’Ree Lee is the Day Program Manager. Sha’Ree has worked with SMILE since 2016. Sha’Ree has an extensive background and has tenure of over 20 years of experience working with the developmentally disabled and behavioral health community. Sha’Ree puts forth her best efforts to achieving success with clients and attaining their goals. She consistently provides services to clients with dignity and respect.

Diane Lynch – Acting Program Manager

Diane has worked with SMILE since 2013. During the last five years, Diane has been devoted to working with the special needs community. Diane has a diverse and distinguished career in the health and human services field. She has received local, state, and national recognition in health-care policy and  government affairs. She held positions as a state regulator and human resources professional. She has developed expertise in health research and management of health care plans, including BCBS health plans. She has served on numerous University Boards and served as field faculty for several university schools of social work. She is a registered neutral with the Georgia Commission on Dispute Resolution.

Antwanette Suggs

Antwanette Suggs is the Regulatory and Compliance Coordinator for Provider Services. She has enormous training and certifications. Antwanette has over 12
years of experience working with special needs individuals in multiple settings. Antwanette’s true passion and steadfast commitment to her clients exceeds expectations. She is driven
by her compassion, knowledge and respect for clients. Antwanette is currently attending school to become a Registered Nurse.

Patrick McKenzie

Patrick McKenzie is the Therap Compliance Coordinator. Patrick has worked with SMILE since 2014. He has worked tirelessly in the SMILE Day Program, earning the
respectful nickname of “Mr. Mack.”  Aside from his experience, Patrick has an impressive educational background. Patrick has a B.A. in Psychology and a Law Degree.
